Debate: Deconstruction in Architecture

This debate was held during the recitation section of Architectural History III (ARCH 5203) in the School of Architecture at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Both teams debated the following proposition:

“Peter Eisenman was ultimately right in asserting that architecture must remain autonomous from any influence outside its own rules of making.”

The team arguing the affirmative (i.e. that architecture is an autonomous art form) consisted of:

1. Erika Laux
2. Diana Vancak

The team arguing the negative (i.e. that architecture is not an autonomous art form) consisted of:

1. Elizabeth Cerny
2. Cara Martini

The results of the debate are announced at the end of the video.
