The editors of ‘The Thinking Architect’ are looking for essays, editorials and book reviews from students in the School of Architecture at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to publish in our December issue. We will primarily consider textually based scholarship completed in any area of the undergraduate or graduate curriculum, or previously published work that is relevant to the general mission of our site. All work should employ the critical tools of the architectural humanities to analyze the social relevance of historical and contemporary design and must be written for a general audience. See our mission statement for clarification on this criteria.
Manuscripts can be submitted to the current faculty editor (firstname.lastname@example.org) or the student editor (email@example.com) for consideration. There is no theme for submissions at this time. Online issues of ‘The Thinking Architect’ are published on a quarterly basis annually with one issue appearing at the mid-term and at the end of fall and spring academic semesters. All submissions must be 2,000 words or less (unless directly solicited by the editors) and must contain the following components:
- 250-word abstract (Word file)
- Text and accompanying endnotes (Word file)
- Text for image labels (Word file)
- Low-resolution image files (tiff or jpg)
The deadline for inclusion in our December issue is 15 November 2015. Submissions will be peer-reviewed by our staff and copy edited for readability. Each writer is responsible for obtaining permission to reprint existing scholarship in this venue. Please direct any general questions to the faculty or student editor listed above.
